‘White-crowned Pigeon’ has made a rare appearance in the Rio Grande Valley

A ‘White-crowned Pigeon’ has made a rare appearance in the Rio Grande Valley, birding enthusiasts from Austin, Houston, Fort Worth, and all over the state have flocked to the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center just to take a glimpse.

White Crowned Pigeons are inhabitants of Cuba and Central America (with the occasional sighting in the Florida Keys) (Scientific name: Patagioenas leucocephala – Conservation Status Near Threatened – Population decreasing)
