South Padre Island is squeezing the last bits of summer out this weekend with the arrival of the annual Island Folk Festival from Friday September 11th to Sunday September 13th. The three-day festival brings multiple acts to the Island along with artist workshops on multiple subjects and activities for the whole family.
Held at Clayton’s Beach Bar and Grill, the largest beach bar in Texas, admission to the festival’s musical acts will be free to the public. Events will run daily from 9 AM to 2 AM and all ages are welcome.
The Island Folk Festival is unique in that it offers a more intimate setting for artists and their fans, along with a host of activities highlighting beach fun. This year’s festival will feature multiple national acts that include The Love Lieghs, international singer Rebecca Loebe and popular indie folk band The Deer. All three will rock the main stage at Clayton’s over the course of the weekend.
Along with musical acts, the festival will host all-day activities from morning to evening. These activities include morning yoga, sand castle lessons and kite building. The weekend will also feature a beach volleyball tournament open to teams of all ages. There will also be an island-wide scavenger hunt for those looking for an adventure.
Lastly, festivalgoers will also have the chance of attending musical workshops taught by the artist playing that very weekend. The workshops include a class on lyrical writing led by Jessica Wagner, ukulele lessons from the duo of Jessica Graves and Raina Rose, and a dance workshop led by Johann Wagner.
The Island Folk Festival has long been a destination for families looking for great fun and a perfect close to the summer. This year’s edition will continue that tradition of togetherness and fun for the whole family. Consider dropping by if you want to enjoy one last summer hurrah.
