The Texas International Fishing Tournament (TIFT) will launch its 3rd Annual TIFT Catch a Redfish Educational Scholarship (CARES) at the 76th annual event, which will be held between July 29th and August 2nd.

The 10-month TIFT CARES program is open to all junior anglers registered in TIFT who are 16 or younger. Tagged redfish are released in the Laguna Madre Bay, and the first five junior anglers who catch one of the tagged fish will receive a $10,000 college scholarship. Fishing for the tagged redfish will take place from August 1st, 2015 through May 31st, 2016. Any junior angler registered in the 76th TIFT is automatically registered in TIFT CARES.

“This program was designed as an investment in the future of TIFT,” said TIFT President Brent Baldree. “We feel this is a wonderful complement to our existing annual scholarship program and encourages the family fishing experiences that have kept our tournament growing.”

The 2015-2016 TIFT CARES Tournament is sponsored by Dargel Boats, Genco Energy Services, Mitch & Clarise Heidenheimer, Sea Ranch Restaurant & Bar/Laguna Bob and Will Lett, Gone South Charters.

If you’re a junior angler, be sure to register for the 2015 TIFT and “Catch a Redfish; Win a Scholarship.” For more information, or to get involved, call 956.943.TIFT or visit www.tift.org.
