South Texas MMA fans can expect a star-studded event with HERO FC Best of the Best V coming to the Jacob Brown Auditorium in Brownsville this Saturday night, June 6th. Hero FC is showcasing local talent while bringing in top-notch athletes from all over the State of Texas. MMA fans have the opportunity to support their favorite fighters at this weekend’s event.
“Our goal is to bring competitive fights to the cage and have the audience wondering who will come out on top,” Matchmaker Vinny Davis said.
Edinburg’s “Dangerous” Danny Salinas (14-7-0) will be headlining the event as he takes on Alex Hernandez (5-1-0) for the event’s Lightweight title and a $50,000 fighting contract. In his eighth year as a professional fighter, Salinas has had 21 bouts, and this fight could be the most important one of them all!
Salinas claims MMA has given him a sense of purpose, and he’s up for the challenge. “It was no secret that at one point in life I wasn’t doing well. I was overweight and up to 270 pounds,” Salinas said. “MMA helped me find my identity and become a better person.”
Fans can also expect epic fights as the Urbina Brothers from Weslaco take their fighting skills to the cage. 19-year-old Gilbert will take on Anthony Tatum and 21-year-old Eli will be fighting Travis Cox. Both young men work on perfecting their styles by training at American Top Team in Florida, but nothing compares to the years they invested in wrestling.
“Wrestling is the strongest mix martial art there is in the sport,” Gilbert Urbina said. “If you’re a good wrestler, you are going to go far.”
