It’s that time of year again when the studying stops (for a while) and the relaxing starts. It’s Spring Break 2015! This year, there is no need to venture out and beyond to find fun and adventure; it’s in your own backyard. The Rio Grande Valley is a hotbed for events and entertainment all week long. To help you navigate the action-packed festivities, we’ve singled out a few to help you plan for a spring break to remember.
Festivals
Nothing says spring break like celebrating the week with a crowd for a festival. Even better when there’s music. Here are a few festivals happening over the break.
Galax Z Fair
Celebrating its fourth year, this alternative music and arts festival converges a diverse music lineup with spectacular art from all over the country. Explore the event here.
The Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show
Always a mainstay of spring breaks in the RGV, the RGV Livestock show in Mercedes is a hit for the whole family. Read all about what’s happening here!
UME 2015
The party never ends at South Padre Island, especially with the biggest names in electronic dance music bringing the jams. Listen to the hits as David Guetta, Tiesto and more bring fire to sandy SPI.

SPI
Sometimes, it seems like spring break was meant for the beach. Ring in the good times at our own South Padre Island. Relax by the waves, hit up Schlitterbahn or catch a hot show with a stream of musical acts happening throughout the week.
Spring Break on the Beach 2015
Country music hits Clayton’s Beach Bar on Tuesday, March 17th as Randy Rogers Band, the Casey Donahew Band and local group Costello all hit the stage. Get tickets now!
For the rap and R&B fan in you, Clayton’s will also be offering shows from today’s biggest artists including Snoop Dogg, T-Pain, Big Sean and J. Cole all week long! Click here for a full list of shows.
Wiz Khalifa
It’ll be a ‘Black and Yellow’ night at Schlitterbahn SPI as Wiz Khalifa rings in spring break with style on Monday, March 16th. More artists are to be announced for the first annual Spring Break Live kickoff event!
